Lost Property

What to do if your child loses or misplaces something at a ZKS Martial Arts class.

We understand that belongings can occasionally be misplaced or accidentally taken home by another member. Whilst we cannot guarantee that missing items will be recovered, we will always make reasonable efforts to help.

How do I report missing property?

If your child has lost something during a class, you can speak with their instructor.

However, we recommend sending a message through the Members Area so that our office has a record of the missing item and can assist with your enquiry.

Please include:

  • Your child's name.
  • A description of the missing item.
  • The venue and class they attended.
  • The approximate date the item went missing.

Can ZKS help find missing belongings?

We will make reasonable efforts to help locate missing property.

Depending on the circumstances, we may check with the instructor, look in the lost property area or send a reminder asking other parents in the relevant class to check whether they have accidentally taken home the wrong item.

Please be aware that members regularly change classes, attend alternative sessions or leave ZKS. This means we cannot guarantee that everyone who attended on the day can be contacted or that missing property will be recovered.

Where can I check lost property?

Where possible, items found at our venues are placed in a designated lost property area.

Parents are welcome to ask their instructor at the end of a session if they would like to check for missing belongings.

Lost property arrangements may differ at venues managed by schools or community centres.

How long do you keep lost property?

We clear unclaimed lost property twice each year:

  • During the Christmas closure.
  • During the summer closure.

Any belongings that remain unclaimed may be donated, recycled or disposed of.

We encourage parents to check the lost property area regularly, particularly before these seasonal closures.

What happens if my child loses their training equipment?

Parents and members are responsible for their personal belongings, including uniforms, training bags and protective equipment.

If essential equipment such as gloves, gumshields or protective guards is lost or accidentally taken home by someone else, the parent or member is responsible for purchasing replacements.

For safety reasons, children without the required protective equipment may be unable to participate in certain training activities until it has been replaced.

How can I prevent belongings from going missing?

We recommend:

  • Clearly labelling all uniforms, bags, water bottles and training equipment with your child's name.
  • Avoiding bringing valuable or unnecessary items to class.
  • Encouraging your child to check their belongings before leaving.

Where can I read the full policy?

You can read our Personal Belongings and Lost Property Policy (PDF) for further information.
