Jim Hey, Aylesbury Instructor

Meet Jim

Senior Black Belt in Taijutsu and Adaptive martial arts instructor.

Biography

Sensei Jim Hey brings a wealth of experience and a strong sense of community to ZKS Martial Arts. A long-standing friend of Sensei Ben and Sensei Louise, he has become a much-loved part of the ZKS family and a valued member of the instructing team.

A black belt in Taijutsu with many years of judo training, Jim trained with a Taijutsu instructor who had studied under Sensei Steve Cowley. He now continues his martial arts journey in association with ZKS, under the guidance of Sensei Ben as lead instructor. Alongside his work with ZKS, he runs his own academy, Reading Taijutsu.

Jim leads our Princes Risborough classes and the adaptive martial arts sessions at ZKS HQ. He has spent many years working with autistic children and adults, as well as people with additional behavioural support needs. His experience and commitment have been essential to making our adaptive programme possible, opening up opportunities for children and young adults who might otherwise have missed out on martial arts.

Passionate about helping young people, Jim supports members as individuals and helps them feel welcome, build confidence and enjoy their training. He hopes to leave a lasting, positive impression that students will carry with them long after they step off the mats.

Away from the dojo, Jim divides his time between the UK and France, returning to France each weekend after teaching his classes with us. His life spans two countries, but his dedication to his students remains a constant.
