My martial arts journey

I started martial arts in 2018, when I was nine. After watching a black belt test on television, I thought it looked incredible and wanted to work towards that myself. A friend recommended ZKS, and I really enjoyed my trial lesson with Sensei Tim.

I have since achieved my black belt. At eleven, I began assisting in Sensei Tim and Sensei Ben’s lessons at Fairford Leys and Buckingham Park. Their support, together with my enthusiasm for training, inspired me to become an assistant instructor.

Helping the next generation

I now support Little Dragons, Mini Ninjas, Junior Martial Arts and Teen Martial Arts at Aylesbury HQ and Fairford Leys. Getting to know the students and watching their confidence and techniques improve is one of the best parts of teaching.

One of my most rewarding moments was watching the children I teach earn medals at the summer competition. Seeing their determination, and knowing how much they had worked towards it, made me very proud.

My approach to teaching

My approach is relaxed and encouraging. I want students to feel able to express themselves on the mats and enjoy their lessons. Beyond martial arts skills, I hope they build confidence in everyday life and friendships that last.

If you are nervous about your first class, come along with an open mind and focus on enjoying yourself. There are lots of fun new skills to learn, and we are here to help.

Life beyond the mats

To me, ZKS is like a sporting family: a place to develop friendships as well as important skills. Outside martial arts, I enjoy going to the gym and socialising with friends. I am also planning to go to university, where I hope to study medicine.
