Sports Therapy

In conjunction with Phil Nuttridge, ZKS Martial Arts is now able to offer a range of remedial therapies, suitable for both sporting and non sporting injuries.

Although Phil is able to offer a number of distinct styles of massage and manipulation, in any given treatment he is often likely to combine these to maximise the benefit to the client.  The individual styles of treatment are summarised below:

Treatments
Sports and Remedial Massage:  A combination of deep Swedish Massage techniques with more clinically based manipulation and stretching techniques to locate and treat deep muscular lesions, weaknesses and imbalances.  Such treatment is often preceded by a thorough examination of the client's posture and muscular condition and is often supplemented with exercises to be carried out by the client between treatments.

Acupressure: A combination of Swedish Massage of the whole body with deep focused work on the meridians and acupoints as described in the Chinese Philosophy of medicine. The meridians and acupoints selected for a treatment will be determined from the conditions presented by the client and whilst this technique is hugely beneficial for musculo-skeletal conditions it is also of great benefit for other conditions such as headaches, digestive disorders and general stress and tension.

Tui Na:  Literally translated as 'push-grab' this is a form of massage that like Acupressure, uses the meridians and acupoints of Chinese Medicine but combined with movements and manipulations usually performed through clothes or over a towel placed on the client.  This style of treatment is outwardly much more 'aggressive' than acupressure but as a consequence its benefits can be much more profound.

Remedial Core Work:  A form of therapy in which the client will perform a number of exercises during the treatment, focusing on strengthening the abdominal core and its associated structures.  This is a very effective way of restoring muscle balance in the main postural structures of the body and strengthening weakened tissues.

Location
At the moment, Phil works from a dedicated treatment room on the outskirts of Buckingham.  From mid-summer 2007, Phil will also be practising on a part-time basis from a new clinic situated in the village of Swanbourne between Winslow and Aylesbury.  Home visits can be arranged but these will usually incur an additional charge.

Daytime appointments are available Monday to Saturday; evening appointments are available Tuesday-Friday

Prices
From Summer 2007, the new price for a 70 minute treatment will be £35.  However, for members of ZKS Martial Arts, there will be a specially discounted price of £30.

Bio
A graduate of Loughborough University, the London School of Sports Massage and the College of Chinese Medicine, over the last six years Phil has established a thriving Manual Therapy clinic in North Buckinghamshire.  He specialises in combining the clinical Western approach of Sports and Remedial therapy with the Chinese concepts of Qi and Wellbeing to produce a unique form of massage and soft tissue manipulation of practical use in the treatment of many musculo-skeletal conditions.  He also teaches Pilates and other forms of core-based exercises which are a natural extension of the work he carries out during his treatments.  Phil now also lectures in Sports and Remedial Therapy and in Chinese Massage and Manipulation.
