As a mixed martial art, we train our students in many ways. From stretching and relaxation techniques, including Tai Chi and Qui Gong, through Kickboxing and free sparring techniques appropriate to competitions, or Ju-Jitsu for use in self defence, all the way to using weapons such as Nunchukus, Bo’s or Bokkens (we don’t tend to use real swords, as they can make quite a mess - of the opponent).
A lot of our students - especially the children - enjoy the arts of Tai Jitsu so much that they want to enter local and national competitions.
Because we are a mixed martial art, we encourage our students to take part in competitions involving light contact fighting. In recent competitions, our students have fought - and won - against students from other clubs specialised in Karate, Tae Kwaendo, and Kick Boxing.
Competitions are rigorously referred, and risk of injury very small because all our fighting is strictly light or no contact.
Unlike other martial arts, we teach you to fight standing up, lying down, when you are underneath, or on top! And when it all goes wrong, we teach you how to fall so that you don’t get hurt, and how to get up quickly again!
If you are an enthusiastic martial artist, and you want to train to win in competitions, then Tai Jitsu is ideal training.
